Named for its location west of the Ashley River, this part of town has seen tremendous growth over the years. As the “greeter” of Charleston to those driving on HWY 17 Northbound, West Ashley offers quite a variety for all of those who call it home. While West Ashley still offers water and marsh views in some areas, it is noted as offering more affordable homes than downtown, the islands, or other suburbs. West Ashley is home to newer construction along with the classic brick ranch-style home, smaller homes, and more established older neighborhoods.
